Happy Holidays

It has been a busy holiday season to say the least. We are securing the last bookings for 2009 All Sketch. In just a couple of days I can start saying This Year's All Sketch. :)

Yesterday I booked a group called Aardvark Fancy. They offered no performance history, as a troupe or as individuals. They seem reluctant to send me a photo having so far sent me pictures of their pet hamsters, their neighbor's dog and a photo of Scott Baio autographed to someone named Jody.

What they did provide me with was an audio tape that, once I managed to find a tape player, had me laughing harder than I have in quite some time. When I called to book them they accepted but asked if I could get some other sketch comedians to write AND perform their material for them.

This should be interesting.

Also added to the line up, Doctor Doctor. This duo features Ben Miller and my co-producer Sid Garcia Heberger, both of I Can't Believe It's Not Comedy doing a series of original vignettes depicting the relationship between therapists and patients.

VOLUNTEERS! Start getting a hold of us. We do have volunteer positions open for ushers, tickets takers and video camera operators (must have experience.)

More news soon.

Booking The Fest

We have booked four stellar acts already. Shoshinz from Tokyo Japan, The Cody Rivers Show of Bellingham Washington, Ten West from Los Angeles and The Keith and Kate Show from Auburn, CA.
All four acts are duos? Is this the year of the comedy duo? I Can't Believe It's Not Comedy may, oddly enough, be appearing also as a duo with Sid and Ben representing the rest of the troupe (some of whom are adventuring around India!.)
We have some other very promising acts that aren't quite confirmed yet so check back for updates. And there is only about a week left to apply so get on it.

Applications Now Being Accepted!

It is done. Application are online and ready to be filled out and submitted.
This year you can use youtube or other online clips if you'd prefer that to sending in a DVD.
Your producers are having a busy year. I am with The Coexist? Comedy Tour and that is keeping me hopping.
Sid continues to run her business, a little thing known as The Crest Theater.
What I'm getting at is, HELL YES, we can use volunteers. Feel free to drop us a line, let us know what your areas of expertise are and we'll put you to work.

...and, it's done

It's THREE AM! Why am I awake? It's been an amazing whirlwind weekend and I will write up a summary/greatest hits type post later, with more pictures. For now though, I'm feeling proud that we gave Sacramento something truly beautiful that it didn't have before. I feel like a good a citizen/neighbor/person. And I laughed A-LOT.
I'm SOOOO appreciative of the performers, volunteers and the audience who all did their part to make this happen.

Lastnight was out of site

Great show last night. I'll get pictures up just as soon as I can. I was really happy with the new ICBINC material. It was frightening opening our big festival with all new material, but I'm glad we did it and it ended up being one of our most crowd pleasing shows ever.
Brent Weinbach was quite simply amazing. Damn he's funny. His Russian alphabet is my new favorite bit.
And speaking of new, The Keith and Kate Show were beautiful. Singing, dancing, storying, and an epic peace about semaphore that had the audience mesmerized. I fully expect that Keith and Kate will be the next troupe to storm the Sketch Comedy circuit.

Tonight we've got The Trash Film Orgy All Star Players with Killing My Lobster (voted Best Comedy Group in San Francisco by the SF Weekly) at 7:30pm
At 9:30pm it's Sacramento's beloved rock and rollers Smooot Valley High with The Weekly Armenian (a personal favorite of mine.)
Tonight's MC is my good friend Tapan Trivedi who the News and Review calls "one of the best comedians in California - period!"

Great piece in the News and Review

Click on the image at left for a bigger version that you can read.

I'm glad too see the fine folks at The News and Review like that Boomtime pic as much as I do. It's one of my favorite sketch pictures since I don't know when.

In other press news:
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sacramento Parent Magazine considers us a great please for a date night. I couldn't agree more.

Who Gets The Pot Pie

We offered all of the performers for Sacramento All Sketch a Vegetarian Chicken Pot Pie (Chicken Not Pie?). Comedians are notoriously poor and therefore hungry so they got to salivating right quick. Then we announced that we had but ONE pie and would give it to whoever made the best video.
Keep checking back, more to come:

The Keith and Kate Show enter late but come in strong with this one

The lovely lads of Smooot Valley High sent in this delightful submission

FAKESWEET submits this wig-a-rific sugar sweet epic.

And Bryan Coffee of The Weekly Armenian just baffles us with this fine throat clearing video.

Check back for more later.

And the website is LIVE

The website www.AllSketch.com is live at last. Sheesh, it took a long time, mostly because we were trying to get it done in the middle of the holidays. Check out the site. You'll find videos, our official schedule and very soon we'll have tickets available for purchase. And this blog will continue, but now it can be a fun behind the scenes peek at putting on a comedy festival.
