Apply To Sacramento All Sketch

We're excited at getting to know sketch troupes from all over the country.
And we're bummed at having to tick off a bunch of 'em as we make the difficult choice of who to invite to perform at our festival.

Click Here to download a word document version of our application.
We'll be putting a pdf up soon as well.
Thanks and best of luck to you.

Tom Working does it again

Tom Working finished up our logo. He gave us lots of great options to choose from, and while I'm thrilled with the variation we chose, I think we'll see some of his other designs appearing on our t-shirts and posters as all the designs were really fantastic.

And, as you can see we've settled on a name. "Sacramento All Sketch" it is. Our initial to do list is shrinking fast. The only major tasks ahead for now is to get our applications done. Our lawyer pal still hasn't given us the go, but we still plan to have them up before Friday.

I stopped by the post office today and set up our PO box, so hit contact if you feel like mailing us pictures of your chinchillas eating pizza or some other such smut.

We've also put up a sponsor page. So you can help Sacramento have a really cool Sketch Festival while promoting your business. Win/win see?

An update (sort of)

Ten West will be here July 20th and 21st. Performing with them will be the premier of One Man Sketch Comedy Show In A Box. Click Here for show information.

We've seen a rough draft of our logo, and it's fantastic. I begged and pleaded but the artist won't let me share it with you all until it's completely done. It'll be up next week.

Also next week, applications. We're just having a lawyer friend of ours go over 'em so we don't get ourselves in any trouble. Can't be too careful you know.

And of course, we'll have our official moniker by next week and a corresponding URL.

So, not much of an update in this update, but if you can make it to Sacramento for the show in July you'll have a swell time.

And of course, please let all your sketchy pals know about the fest. It's going to be a great time for all.

Pictures of The Theatre

Had a great meeting with Sid today. We took an extensive tour of the theatre. It's really a perfect room, even the dressing rooms are awesome.

We've having a great time putting together the festival. I've been meeting regularly with Sid and with my fiance Bryna mapping out how we'll work everything.

I've also been talking a-lot with Andrew from The Cody Rivers show. They do a festival called Sketchingham and I'm getting lots of great advice on what has worked for them.

One thing I'm especially excited about is making this a great experience for the visiting performers. I love Sacramento and look forward to seeing a bunch of Sketch Comedians having a great time here.

The Applications are almost done. We'll have 'em up here by next week, so do check back for that.

I am open to any and all advice and happy to answer questions. You can write me or Sid at sactosketch@gmail.com.

That's it for now. More next week.

Welcome

The Sacramento Sketch Comedy Festival will feature a carefully selected sampling of the best Sketch Comedy America has to offer, and who knows maybe we'll even get some of that zany foreign comedy.

The festival will consist of five shows over three nights in February 2008, and some other smaller events as well including a late night show that will be give the various troupes and troupe members an opportunity to collaborate.

The venue is The 24th Street Theater, a gorgeous 300 street theater with a great lighting system a large stage, posh dressing rooms and all the other great stuff you could want.

So, who is putting on this amazing spectacle? Glad you asked:

Keith Lowell Jensen has been an MC and promoter for Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation, a touring stand up comedian, the founder of Sacramento's legendary film festival The Trash Film Orgy. He is also the founder, director and a cast member of Sacramento sketch troupe I Can't Believe Its Not Comedy.

Sid Garcia Heberger is the assistant director and a cast member of I Can't Believe Its Not Comedy. In her spare time Sid operates Sacramento's most beloved historic movie theatre, The Crest.

There's lots going on behind the scenes at the present time, including building a website. For now we have this blog. Please keep checking back and looking forward to The Sacramento Sketch Comedy Festival.
